‘Brexit protester’ is arrested after egg is thrown at Jeremy Corbyn during a mosque visit in north London

- A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault
Jeremy Corbyn has had an egg thrown at him by an allegedly pro-Brexit campaigner during a visit to a mosque in his constituency.
The Labour leader was visiting Finsbury Park Mosque in north London today when he was targeted.
It is understood he was unharmed unhurt by the incident at the Muslim Welfare Centre, where he had earlier met worshippers, and continued with his planned itinerary.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said it “an egg was thrown at a member of Parliament” shortly before 4pm in Seven Sisters Road.
Mr Corbyn was attacked during a visit to Finsbury Park Mosque in North London to mark Visit My Mosque day
It is understood that Mr Corbyn has not harmed in the attack, which led to a 41-year-old man to be arrested on suspicion of assault
She added: ‘A 41-year-old man was quickly detained by officers on scene and arrested on suspicion of assault.
‘He is currently in custody at a north London police station.’
It is the latest incident in which an egg has been thrown at a high-profile politician.
In May 2001 the then Labour deputy prime minister, John Prescott, was targeted during an election campaign event – and famously rewarded the thrower with a sharp jab to the chin.
