A fashion show dedicated to the very latest in bridal styles has revealed wedding dresses are set to take a fresh new direction in the coming year. 

Luxury event the Bridal Bazaar recently showcased the bridal catwalk, and it featured a host of acclaimed designers from Australia and abroad.

Given the average bride is spending just over $5,000 on her wedding dress, according to Wedded Wonderland, making sure it’s a standout is top of mind for anyone planning their special day.

Here, FEMAIL takes a look at some of the stunning creations sent down the catwalk and reveals the latest in bridal-wear trends for the coming year.

When it comes to statement-making wedding ensembles this dress, a couture J’Aton creation is one the fashion-forward bride is sure to love.

While the effect of the overall appearance of the gown is quite demure, a floor-length semi-transparent cylindrical skirt makes this a one-of-a kind piece. 

The statement look is given a feminine touch with the addition of appliqued flowers.

The floor-length fishtail gown is covered with intricate beading and features off-the-shoulder lace detailing which runs across the back of the gown.

While the dress itself is a classic silhouette, a plunging neckline and deeply scooped back make it a slightly edgier choice.

Sparkle it would seem was very much the order of the day at the bridal show, with luxury embellishments featured on a number of gowns.

One, a sleeveless dress designed by Beirut-based Rami Kadi, amped up the wow factor by including a front panel emblazoned with silver sequins.

The couture creation also featured embroidered contrasting panels in the lightest of greens and came with an attached train that billowed out softly from the waist.

Another gown, designed by Hellen Manuell, also revealed how sequins could be used to make a subtle yet striking statement. 

The dress, one that featured a fitted bodice and full-fish tail skirt, was created using a blend of floral appliqued lace contrasted against fabric with just a hint of metallic brightness.
