Bride is SLAMMED for refusing to allow her friend of seven years to bring boyfriend to her wedding

A bride has received fierce backlash online after she revealed that she lost a friend of over seven years because she refused to allow the pal to bring her boyfriend to her wedding.

Cora Breilein, 28, from California, recently went viral on TikTok for sharing the very-strict rules that she sent in place for her nuptials – one of which, put a major wedge between her and a longtime friend.

According to the 28-year-old, she and her husband, Jared, tied the knot back in April, during an intimate wedding at a winery in Sonoma Valley, surrounded by just 96 of their closest friends or family members.

Ahead of her big day, Cora, who works in event planning, set up a series of ‘guidelines’ on their wedding website for the guests to follow – including what they should and shouldn’t wear, why they wouldn’t be allowed to use their phones during the ceremony, and what would happen if they turned up late.

But one of the regulations – regarding whether or not guests could bring a plus one with them – ultimately resulted in the bride losing a close friend and receiving a slew of negative responses on social media.

In the video, Cora revealed that the unnamed pal was left so furious over not being allowed to come to the wedding with her significant other that it actually tore their friendship apart.

Do YOU think the bride should have allowed her friend to bring her boyfriend?

‘Our wedding website FAQs… And if people actually listened,’ Cora began in the TikTok, before showcasing some of guidelines that she put in place ahead of the wedding.

‘Can I bring a date?’ read one of them. ‘Our wedding will be intimate to enjoy with our loved ones, we are not extending plus ones at this time. If your partner is invited, their name is included on your save the date and invitation.’

‘I lost a seven-plus-year friendship over not inviting a boyfriend I never met,’ she added in a text overlay.

‘Our wedding felt so special and intimate knowing everyone there. It’s worth weeding people that aren’t interested in being part of your life, out.’

Another question in the FAQ read, ‘When do I need to be at the venue?’ to which Cora replied, ‘Please be at the venue no later than 3:15pm. Late parties will not be permitted entrance.’

‘Two out of 96 people were late. What we didn’t say is that we hired security to turn late parties away,’ she revealed.

Some people, on the other hand, defended Cora, with one person writing, ‘People keep missing the point: being invited to someone’s wedding is a privilidge. Follow their rules on their day.’

‘My mind is blown at people saying this is too much,’ someone else said. ‘This is basic wedding etiquette.’

‘I love detailed instructions. I’m always terrified of messing up at a wedding, so I think this is great,’ added another supportive viewer.

‘The face that some people feel entitled to give their opinions about your wedding is wild,’ read a different comment. ‘These are very standard wedding requests for guests.’

In a follow-up video, the event planner explained that she was so particular about who was on the guest list because she wanted to ensure that she knew everyone in the room.

‘We had an intentionally small wedding,’ she said. ‘We wanted to know every single person there and we accomplished that goal so it was successful.’

The California-native added that if they knew the guests’ partners, they were invited, and it was just the ones they had never met who weren’t welcome to come.

‘Just want to clarify, the boyfriends and girlfriends that we knew were there. But if I’ve never met their boyfriend or girlfriend, I was not comfortable inviting them,’ she explained.

‘It’s just about people who will be in our lives long term, With the pandemic, a lot of people had friendships fall out and that happened to me for sure.’

When it comes to why she created the FAQ, Cora said she ‘wanted to do everything in her power to be the bad guys’ so that the wedding planners and vendors ‘didn’t have to.’

‘A lot of people don’t think about their vendors but I’ve worked in events for so long, I didn’t want to put a ton of pressure on my wedding planners,’ she continued.

‘I’m super happy I did. I know my wedding day, I know it was a success. I had a lot of fun, my husband had a lot of fun, our friends and family had a lot of fun, our vendors didn’t seem that stressed out – to me, that’s all that matters.’
