Bride surprises her sick father in San Francisco hospital

This is the touching moment a bride was married in the hospital where her father is fighting against leukemia after pushing the big day forward by five months.

Vieneese Stanton shocked her dad, Preston Rolan, by appearing at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco in her wedding gown.

Rolan, 64, was diagnosed with the cancer in February and doctors recently told his daughter he was in worsening health. 

So Stanton, 27, decided to move the wedding forward and to guarantee her father could walk her down the aisle by holding the ceremony in the hospital where he is being treated, ABC News reported. 

Stanton explained that doctors told her she ‘needed to start talking to my dad about where he wants to die … and things like that.

She added: ‘With that conversation being necessary, I talked to my fiancé and said, “We’ve got to make some changes”.’

Stanton said the wedding would not have been possible without the help of 150-strong nursing team at UCSF. 

Some of the nurses helped by bringing in decorations – including silk flowers to compensate for a lack of real one, which are not allowed in the unit because of infection risks.

Meanwhile the hospital’s chaplains, chefs and even harpist helped out to make the ceremony as special as possible. 

Rolan, speaking during the wedding, said he was delighted to see his daughter in her wedding dress. 

Stanton said her favorite moment of the day was seeing Rolan’s face when she emerged in her dress.

She is expecting her first child in March and wants her father to be around for that, too, explaining that he is ‘always talking about the baby’.
