Bride-to-be is slammed for BANNING her groom and guests from watching the Champions League final on her wedding day – but do YOU think she’s in the wrong?
- Eagerly anticipated clash between the two English clubs takes place on June 1
- The bride-to-be has banned guests from watching it as falls on her big day
- Has asked guests to ‘please respect’ the special day is about them, not football
A bride-to-be has been blasted by her football-loving guests after banning the Champions League final from being streamed at her wedding.
The highly-anticipated match between Liverpool and Tottenham will take place on June 1 – which unfortunately clashes with her big day.
One of the invitees took to Mumsnet after the bride-to-be’s decision sparked an argument between the guest and her Liverpool supporter husband.
She revealed her partner and his brothers were hatching a plan to sneak out of the wedding to watch the game and return once the European league title decider was over.
Shocker! A bride-to-be has been blasted by her football-loving guests after banning the Champions League final from being streamed at her wedding
‘We’re attending a wedding the day of the Champions League final, now Liverpool have gotten to the final DH [darling husband] understandably wants to watch it,’ the anonymous guest explained.
‘The majority of people attending are from Liverpool and the surrounding areas, my DH included.’
She added: ‘The couple getting married have now put out a notice saying that they have chosen not to screen the Champions League.
‘They do not want anyone to ask for it to be put on, to leave and watch it, or to be watching it on any devices and to please respect that this day is about them.’
Revealing all! One of the invitees took to Mumsnet after the bride-to-be’s decision sparked an argument between the guest and her Reds-supporting husband
The woman said she understood the bride’s decision, however – to her disgust – her husband and his relatives are refusing to miss ‘such a massive game’.
‘It ended with [my husband] and I having a bit of an argument because I think it’s extremely rude to leave, watch the game and return,’ she wrote.
‘It’s just been left with they will be watching and that’s that, they think the bride and groom are being unreasonable to put a blanket ban on the whole thing and not just shove it on a tele in the bar.
‘There’s over 200 guests invited to the wedding. Who’s being unreasonable?’
The post has sparked huge debate online, with the responses being fairly divided.

One social media user wrote: ‘They can’t stop him googling the result but it’s rude if he leaves to go watch it.’
Offering a solution, they added: ‘Could he and his brothers agree to record it then watch together the next day? Try to avoid seeing the result.’
Though one suggested a Liverpool fan’s response to this would not be positive.
Another said: ‘As much as I would hate it myself, in these circumstances I think the couple would be better off embracing it, showing the match on their terms and then getting on with the day.’
One wrote: ‘I’d love to hear any adult try to justify why a game is so important, they think it would justify being so rude to people they’re supposed to love.
‘I know I don’t understand / am not a football fan / don’t get it etc., but I can’t even begin to express how pathetic it is to be so invested in something so unimportant.’
Yet sticking up for the male relatives, one said: ‘Ouch how utterly crass. To be honest I’d be tempted to disappear and watch it now.’
