A bride took to Reddit to share an intense family feud, that erupted when her pregnant younger sister demanded she take the bride’s wedding venue and arrangements for her own shotgun nuptials next month.
The woman, 28, revealed that she has been planning her own big day for three years. Her sister, 23, is also engaged but has only announced this week that she is expecting.
The younger sibling emotionally blackmailed the bride in public to convince her to transfer the looming wedding date, the venue, the vendors as ‘it would really mean a lot’ to her.

In her lengthy viral Reddit post, the bride explained that she and her fiancé had been together for eight years and had gotten engaged three years ago. As the bride was doing her PhD, the wedding date was pushed out, but the ‘beautiful’ lakeside venue had been set in stone for three years.
The bride noted that the date, next month, is the only available slot that was available for the past few years. Not only was the sister asking for the venue and the wedding date to be given to her (after all invitations had been sent out months ago), she also wanted to use the pre-arranged and pre-paid vendors.
The sister was also not planning to pay the bride for using the contractors.
Before the pregnancy announcement, the newly-engaged sister said she planned to get married next spring but had very limited arrangements in place – and no venue.

The bride was initially fine with her sister saying she wanted to move her own wedding date up to next month too, but when she asked could she ‘have’ the venue in front of the whole family, all hell broke lose.
The bride lists that the sister announced in front of extended relatives, ‘I was really, really hoping we could kinda like take your venue? I really can not stress myself too much with planing a wedding while going to maternity classes. And I think it is so beautiful! It would really mean a lot to me.’
While the sister’s fiancé said that she should not have brought it up as they had already discussed it was inappropriate, the sister said, ‘Don`t be like that. My sister wants to do whats best for me, so it’s no big deal right?’
The bride noted that it certainly was a big deal, as her heart had been set on her own dream venue for years.
After the sisters confronted each other, the bride said that she was told she was selfish by her grandmother as the sister ‘needed’ the venue more than she did.
She was also told, ‘You waited three years. Would it have killed you to wait a few more months? When has your sister ever asked you for something,’ by their mother.
Her father has slammed her for being the reason her sister ‘has not stopped crying’ and has threatened to not walk his eldest daughter down the aisle.
Both the bride’s future brother-in-law and her fiancé were furious with the younger sister. The bride’s future husband even insisted that they uninvite the sister from the wedding and remove her from the bridal party.

‘Now my family is threatening not to come because I am being selfish and my sister needs it more than me because having a baby is too stressful,’ the bride revealed.
She has since added that she is not responding to texts from her parents. She added that her brother-in-law has apologized.
‘My fiancé and I have decided to boot my sister from the bridal party and replace her with my aunt, who is the only family member that took my side. We have not decided whether or not we will invite my family as a whole,’ the bride updated Redditors.
‘My mom called [my] fiancé’s parents and told them that it would be best if my sister gets [the venue] because she is pregnant and pre-eclampsia runs in the family. My future father in law told them to f**k off and basically ripped my mom a new one for expecting something so ridiculous and that they were going to lose me if they kept playing favorites.’
The bride, who likened the situation to a ‘bad soap opera’, clarified that she and her fiancé had paid for the venue, the vendors and virtually everything themselves – except for the caterer which her father had gifted them. As the wedding venue was costly, the bride said her own fiancé had ‘handmade’ a lot of the decorations they were planning to use.
The bride added that her sister, who was likened to a terrorist by commentors, also cried on the day of the bride’s graduation from her PhD program because she did not get accepted to the Masters program she wanted.
‘My family is baby crazy,’ the bride said. ‘And my sister’s baby would be the first on paternal side of the family. And we don’t really have out of town guests. Only my fiancé’s best friend and my aunt. We kept the invitation list short because much of the budget fell on the venue and so on,’ she also cleared up in an update.
Over 5,000 people weighed in on the matter. The overwhelming consensus was that the sister was thoroughly in the wrong.

People raised the point that the parents should be helping the sister plan a new wedding, without sacrificing their other daughter’s happiness.
The sister was also called ‘selfish’, ‘entitled’ and a ‘brat’. Numerous people warned that she was likely to show up to the nuptials in her own wedding dress.
‘Seriously. The sister does not need her venue/vendors, she can find other places, hire a wedding planner, or just hold off completely until after the child is born. It isn’t up to op to drop everything for her sister to have a ‘perfect wedding.” a comment slammed.
Another comment stated, ‘Not to mention your sister and BIL [brother in law] are 100 per cent responsible for the pregnancy lmao. Can she really pull the pregnancy card? Like damn sis, you’re the one that ordered the cream pie!’
Several commentors also warned the bride to tell her vendors what was happening and to ensure she does not let her phone out of her sight in case the sister and parents take their sabotage to the next level.
