Camouflaged entrances, secret tracks and hideouts built from shrubs: The seedy camps used by sexual predators to spy on children’s playgrounds

Sexual deviants have set up hook-up camps which overlook children’s play areas and used hidden enclosures to conceal their sordid activities.
Man-made tracks and three hideouts built out of vegetation were discovered in bushland this week along Bridgewater Creek in Brisbane’s south-east.
The enclosures overlook netball courts, which are used by junior players, as well as a children’s playground.
‘It’s not a rampant problem but they have a few hives constructed out of bushes to screen where the activity is occurring and camouflage the opening,’ Senior Sergeant Dave Stafford told The Courier Mail.

‘Police have been patrolling there daily as soon as it was brought to our attention and the activity has decreased significantly after the response.’
Sen-Sgt Stafford said the tracks lead off the Metropolitan Districts Netball Association’s car park.
Damien Madden of the Norman Creek Catchment Committee made the discovery as his team worked to maintain the bushland in the suburb of Coorparoo.
Mr Madden said rocks which the organisation had laid to reinforce the creek’s banks had been ripped out.

He also found vegetation had been hacked away to make way for the tracks and used to build the enclosures.
The discovery comes after similar issues at the nearby Minnippi Parklands at Tingalpa.
Sexual deviants approached undercover police at the family recreation area and asked them to perform sex acts in 2015.
Plans for CCTV surveillance of the parklands were announced in 2013 and installed following the 2015 police operation.
