Liverpool supporters are preparing a hostile welcome for Manchester United’s team coach at Anfield on Sunday.
A fans group – Official Liverpool fans – has called upon home supporters to ‘bring pints, pyros and flags’ for when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad arrive at Anfield.
It is anticipated that there could be a repeat of the scenes that occurred when Liverpool hosted Manchester City in the Champions League in 2018.

The scenes could be similar to when Manchester City’s coach was attacked in April 2018

On that occasion some of the windows on the coach were smashed, with the roof being burned after a flare was thrown.
Liverpool fans have also staged hostile welcomes for away team buses on several other occasions – including for games against Borussia Dortmund and Roma in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
The organisers were eager to point out that, although they intend for the ‘greeting’ to be hostile, they don’t want it to be violent.
They called for fans to arrive around two hours before the game and line the streets starting from The King Harry Pub all the way down Anfield Road to the ground.
Liverpool are 14 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and also have a game in hand as they look to win the league title for the first time since 1990.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are also determined to preserve their unbeaten league run, which has so far encompassed 38 games.

An Instagram post by the supporters group read: ‘We all know how much this game means to us!
‘United will want to stop us more than ever as we continue our unbelievable season and our hunt for the title.
‘Get down there early to welcome the boys in and make it as hostile as we can for them United players.
‘Villarreal, Manchester City, Barcelona, Dortmund, they’ve all crumbled when we’ve created this kind of atmosphere.
Liverpool supporters also organised a similar event ahead of taking on Villarreal in 2016

‘Let’s do it to United and continue to help this team make history. Let’s make this hostile not violent.’
The group were eager to point out that Liverpool have won on each of the eight previous occasions that they have organised such an event.
Liverpool beat Dortmund, Villarreal, Manchester City (twice), Roma, Chelsea, Barcelona and Wolves after similar events were organised.
They wrote: ‘This is just unbelievable. You can say this is a coincidence, but that’s 8 unbelievable performances and the thing they all have in common is the atmosphere we created.
‘This is what we need to do to United. Because we just don’t want to beat them, we want to humiliate them. Get yourselves down early, and let’s show the lads what this means!’.
