Most women envisage long white gowns, splendid bouquets of flowers and flutes of sparkling champagne for their wedding day.
But one Australian bride ignored every single stereotype possible for her own nuptials by throwing a ghoulish Halloween-themed reception.
Brisbane newlywed Misaki ‘Revecca’ Fujiwara drew inspiration from The Corpse Bride, Nightmare on Elm Street and the Saw franchise when putting together a spooky soiree to celebrate her marriage to husband Ryan Montgomery.

Revecca encouraged her guests (left and right) to dress up as ghouls and monsters for her reception
Dressed in a Gothic-themed silver frock with a 10-metre train and elbow-length black gloves, Revecca still married her soulmate with a whisper of tradition by swapping vows in St John’s Cathedral.
But the rest of the night was far from conventional as her guests arrived covered in fake blood and were scared by ‘zombie crew’ to Michael Jackson’s Thriller as Revecca and Ryan made their own macabre entrance as man and wife.
‘I always knew it was going be something different. Weddings are normally for the bride and groom but we wanted people to really enjoy the atmosphere and wanted them to have a bit of fun,’ Revecca told FEMAIL.
‘My partner and I always had an interest in horror films and that was a common thing for us.’

The couple’s cake included figurines from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas (pictured left)

One hundred of the couple’s closest friends and family embraced the frightful theme by dressing up in scary masks and using make-up to draw bleeding gashes onto their skin.
Even the bride entered the reception with blood trickling down her face and neck and a fleshy cut on her arm and she and the groom pretended to be infected with a ‘zombie virus’.
Japanese-born Revecca stuck to tradition with a church ceremony but invited guests to change into their Halloween-esque costumes for the party.
The room was adorned with spiderweb table cloths, plastic fangs were used as name-tags and a big dead tree was used as a centrepiece in lieu of flowers.
‘I said “I dont want fresh flowers, I want something dead to match the wedding”,’ Revecca explained.

Rev ditched most of the typical wedding traditions but she did have an adorable page boy (pictured left); even the bride entered the reception with blood trickling down her face and neck and a fleshy cut on her arm

The horror film buff, who also works as a pastry chef, baked her own six-tier wedding cake and it was then decorated with figurines from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.
The bride’s own mother dressed up as Morticia from The Addams Family, her DJ was a killer clown and the couple hired a crew of zombies to act as photo booth props and to scare other guests.
‘I said to the organisers ‘I love Halloween and love gothic’. My own house is like 365 days a year Halloween,’ Revecca said.
‘Some people get freaked out – but that’s just me.’

Revecca’s morbid fascination with blood and gore means her vocation is less than a surprise.
The mother-of-one completed her mortuary certificate and has worked at a funeral home, and says she finds preparing the dead to be a ‘satisfying’ experience.
‘It’s a very satisfying job. Doctors can do so much but every living creature dies, and morticians and funeral directors support families who have gone through so much,’ she said.
‘To me its not scary or uncomfortable because its just a human who has passed away. It’s a blessing I can do something for the family.’
‘People say it’s a weird job, but someone has to do it,’ Revecca added.
