Brisbane house with amazing 50m water slide on the market

A Brisbane house featuring an amazing 50-metre water slide is up for sale and turning heads of potential buyers.

Craig Gormley, who owns the lavish Parakeet Street property, never intended to build a water slide in his backyard, but when the former family attraction popped up on Gumtree he couldn’t resist.

‘I had no idea if it was going to work, but I bought it anyway,’ Mr Gormley told Realestate.com.

He said that when he was a child, he had enjoyed the slide all the time at an attraction at Ferny Grove called The Woolshed, which has since shut down.

As an adult he still gets a thrill, however said he remembered the slide being much bigger as a kid.

The slide isn’t the only interesting addition to the five-bedroom home however, which also features a hairdressing studio, mini golf course and granny flat.

Despite utilising his skills as a professional builder, Mr Gormley was unsure if the slide would be functional.

The slide was taken from an attraction at Ferny Grove called The Woolshed where Mr Gormley used to play as a child

Pieces weighing between 200 and 300 kilograms were delivered to the home in several lots.

Once permission was given from a building certifier and the council he rounded up a group of friends to put the slide together.

Mr Gormley said he was proud to have owned a slice of history and hopes now whoever takes on the property finds the same pleasure from the piece.
