A man who went into a newsagent to refill his ink pen decided to check his Lotto ticket but was told the prize was ‘too big to pay out’.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he ‘rocked into’ the shop in Indooroopilly, in Brisbane, to buy a pen refill and walked out $2.7million richer.

When he went to check his ticket from Saturday’s $30million Megadraw the machine said the prize was ‘too big to pay out’.

The man was confused and looked at the shopkeeper who told him: ‘You’re the division one winner we’ve been looking for’.

‘We checked the numbers and I just about hit the floor!’ the man said on Tuesday.

‘It hasn’t sunk in yet. I really cannot believe it.’

They checked the numbers but the man was still in disbelief and said he almost dropped to the floor in shock.

The man immediately knew his next moves and plans on resigning from his job as soon as possible.

‘I’m still working and I am so tired. I keep telling everyone if I win the lottery I am resigning immediately,’ he said.

‘Bloody oath! That’s the first thing I am going to do, I will finally retire! I can relax and get my health in order and just enjoy myself.’

The man purchased the life-changing ticket at Metro News on 1st at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.

Employee at the shop Carol Hinds said she was excited to scan the winning ticket.

‘I am so glad that this winner has now discovered his multi-million dollar prize,’ she said.

‘It’s was so exciting to sell this winning entry and even better to know it’s gone to a local customer. Congratulations to him! We’re sure he will enjoy his prize.’

The Brisbane man was one of five Queensland division one winners from the $30million Megadraw and will be going into 2020 with $2,72,000.
