Britain’s best-paid female FTSE boss Emma Walmsley bagged 17% pay rise last year, taking her total remuneration to £8.2m


Britain’s best-paid female FTSE boss bagged a 17 per cent pay rise last year, taking her total remuneration to £8.2m. 

Emma Walmsley, the chief executive of pharmaceuticals giant GlaxoSmithKline, pocketed a base salary of £1.2m, a bonus of £2.3m and share awards of £4.3m – on top of her pension contribution and benefits such as a company car. 

She also won a 3 per cent rise in her base pay for this year.

The bumper rewards for Walmsley come as she prepares to spin off GSK’s consumer arm into a separate company, named Haleon. 

The unit, which plans to list on the UK stock market later this year, makes products such as Aquafresh toothpaste and Panadol pain relief medication.
