A two-year-old British boy on holiday in Mallorca has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being rescued from a swimming pool.
Shocked tourists looked on in horror as the youngster was spotted floating face down in the water at the Marins Playa hotel in Cala Bona.
A lifeguard jumped in and pulled him to safety then performed resuscitation for two minutes – stabilising the child’s vital signs and breathing.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and took over but it is understood his condition deteriorated again while the ambulance was on its way to the Son Espases hospital in the capital of Palma.
Spanish newspapers say the little boy was staying at the hotel with his family when the horror unfolded at about 12.30pm today.
Medics who went to the pool praised the rescuer’s swift action in managing to revive the youngster.
Originally, the emergency ambulance intended to head for the Manacor hospital but changed its route on the way with its lights flashing when his condition worsened.
