Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones still ‘very interested’ in fight, reveals UFC president Dana White

  • Jon Jones called out Brock Lesnar following his victory at UFC 214 last summer
  • Both men still have to serve suspensions due to doping violations
  • Dana White says Lesnar wants to return and in interested in the Jones fight

Dana White has revealed a super-fight between two of the biggest stars in UFC history may be a possibility.

The promotion is lacking star power at present but White is hoping to fix that with a showdown between former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and ex-light-heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, the UFC president was asked about the status of current WWE Universal Champion Lesnar and whether or not he still plans to have one more run in mixed-martial-arts.

‘Brock’s WWE deal is up at the end of the summer I think and I know he wants to fight so I’m sure we’ll end up getting that figured out,’ White said.

The reporter went on to offer up top contender Francis N’Gannou as a potential opponent but White seemed more interested in a match-up that has been teased for the past year.

‘(Ngannou)’s a fun fight, absolutely,’ the 48-year-old responded. ‘There’s a lot of options. Jon Jones is very interested in Brock Lesnar and Brock is very interested in Jon Jones.’

The idea of a bout between the pair has been bandied about since Jones chose to publicly call out Lesnar following his victory over Daniel Cormier last summer.

‘Brock Lesnar, if you want to know what it feels like to get your ass kicked by a guy who weighs 40 pounds less than you, meet me in the Octagon,’ Jones said with fans quickly getting behind the idea.

However, there are plenty of hurdles to a potential bout, with Lesnar still needing to serve six months of a doping suspension and Jones still to be handed his sentence after a violation of his own last year.

‘I don’t know, we’ll figure that out in the next month,’ said White on Jones’ situation That’s up to USADA.’

‘Lesnar vs. Jones? They both want it. It’s a fun fight.’
