A Brooklyn infant died after his father left him in the bathroom near a hot shower to help the baby’s cough, police said Friday.
Mordechai Halpern, one, woke up coughing around 3.30am on Thursday in the families East 2nd Street in Kensington, New York.
His 27-year-old father gave him a bottle filled with water, lemon juice and sugar but the cough continued.

His temperature had risen to 108 degrees Fahrenheit when his father left him by a hot running shower in their Brooklyn, New York home to help ease his cough. He was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center in a Hatzolah ambulance and died at 5.49am
