Brooklyn Nets’ Steve Nash insists he and Kevin Durant have cleared the air after trade controversy

Brooklyn Nets’ Steve Nash insists he and Kevin Durant have cleared the air after the NBA star ‘issued an ultimatum to the team to trade him or fire the head coach’ this summer

Following a summer filled with stress and headlines, Brooklyn Nets’ head coach Steve Nash has said that everything is ‘good,’ between him and star forward Kevin Durant.

It was well documented that Durant not only demanded a trade from Brooklyn, but also tried to give the team an ultimatum to either trade him or fire Nash and general manager Sean Marks.

‘We’re fine,’ Nash said after the Nets’ first practice of on Tuesday. ‘We’re good. Ever since we talked, it’s been like nothing’s changed.

‘I have a long history with Kevin. I love the guy. Families have issues. We had a moment and it’s behind us. That’s what happens. It’s a common situation in the league.’

Nash said that he and Durant cleared the air with each other during a meeting that took place back in August, when the decision was made that all parties would remain with the Nets.

The meeting took place in Los Angeles, with Nash, Durant, Marks, and Nets ownership in attendance. Nash declined to specify what was said to clear the air between him and Durant.

‘That’s a private conversation, so I’m not going to get into it,’ Nash said. ‘But it was an opportunity for us to just clear the air and communicate. It was pretty straightforward, it didn’t take a lot of time, and we got to the bottom of it and decided to move forward.’

Nash would also tell reporters that he never completely believed the reports that Durant pushed for him to be fired in the first place.

‘I never thought that was 100 percent,’ Nash said. ‘There was a lot of things. It’s not black and white like that, so there was a lot of factors. A lot of things behind the scenes. A lot of things reported are not accurate.’

‘A lot of things that are reported are not 100 percent accurate. So you get fragmented bits of truth. You get things that are flat out not true. It happens. … So I never really get caught up in all that stuff.’
