Brother and sister pen parody song about Pauline Hanson

A parody video calling on One Nation leader Pauline Hanson to leave politics has gone viral, amassing nearly 40,000 views already.

Brother-and-sister duo Caleb and Annabel Ziegeler posted the satirical song, which is set to the tune of Dolly Parton’s hit Jolene, on Facebook last Friday.

The Warrnambool duo said they produced the song in ‘about an hour’ and revealed the reaction to it since has been ‘pretty crazy’.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Mr Ziegeler, 23, said that while the idea had been in the works for some time, Ms Hanson’s burqa stunt in Parliament last week was the final straw.

‘I guess I had the idea brewing in my head ever since she visited the Great Barrier Reef and claimed that because she didn’t see any bleaching it must be perfectly healthy,’ Mr Ziegeler said.

‘I made note of a lot of other things she had said since and prior to that, and then the burqa stunt on Thursday was the one that tipped me over the line.’

Mr Ziegeler said the pair didn’t spend ‘a huge amount of time’ writing and producing the song, managing to complete and record it on Friday.

‘The lyrics pretty much had been writing themselves in my head over the last little while,’ he said.

‘And I asked Annabel to join me because she’s definitely the singer out of us two.’

Ms Hanson's previous comments about the great Barrier Reef and coral bleaching had also led the duo to write the song

The lyrics to the video hilariously beg the One Nation leader to 'get out of politics' and states: 'your race views are out of date, don't want no-one to immigrate, it's time that you stop spreading hate, Pauline'

The video begs the One Nation leader to ‘get out of politics’ and features lines such as ‘your race views are out of date, don’t want no-one to immigrate, it’s time that you stop spreading hate Pauline’.

It also mocks her policies on immigration, saying: ‘We must send all the Muslims back, ban the burqa and halal snack pack.’

Mr Ziegeler, who works as an environmental labourer, said that most people had responded positively to the video, with just ‘a few negative comments’.

He said: ‘We really had no idea that people would like the song so much.’

‘Most people have seen the humorous side of it so that’s been good. We were always expecting to get a bit of (negativity) when posting something of this nature as everyone is entitled to their opinions.’

It marks the second parody video the siblings have made after penning a song about American gun legislation based off Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’.

And while Mr Ziegeler said they don’t have any plans ‘at this stage’ to make another hit, he revealed there have been plenty of requests to do one about Donald Trump.

‘I think there’s probably too much material to select from there though,’ he said.

The duo make the videos in their spare time, with Ms Ziegeler 19, busy studying in Melbourne, and admitted to having ‘dabbled in a bit of amateur musical theatre’ in the past.
