Bruce Springsteen, 75, reveals how he keeps his youthful looks

Bruce Springsteen was in fine form at the premiere of the new documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Monday night in Los Angeles.

Days earlier the musical legend revealed how he manages to keep his youthful looks.

In an interview with The Times the Grammy winner admitted he eats only one full meal a day.

‘I’ll have a bit of fruit in the morning and then I’ll have dinner,’ said the rock star. ‘That has kept me lean and mean.’

This way of eating is nothing new to the Glory Days singer who told the Beyond the Influence podcast in November 2022, ‘The biggest thing is diet, diet, diet.’

He added, ‘I don’t eat too much, and I don’t eat bad food, except for every once in a while when I want to have some fun for myself.

‘So I think anybody that’s trying to get in shape, exercise is always important of course, but diet is 90 percent of the game.’

His longtime producer and manager both talked Bruce’s good looks on Monday.

They credited his dedication to eating healthfully for the rocker’s ability to perform like a man half his age.

‘The last 24 years I’ve just watched Bruce perform for three and a half hours, four hours a night, and it’s just been a lifestyle of healthy living I’ve witnessed,’ director Thom Zimny told US Weekly.

‘I think he’s a great influence.’

Manager Jon Landau admires the Born to Run singer’s dedication, but says the diet is not for him.

‘Well, I don’t follow it,’ he told the outlet. ‘That’s all I can say about it. I think he does stick to it though.’

Bruce’s wife, Patti Scialfa, 71, was not at the premiere, but she does feature in the documentary.

Scialfa has been suffering from multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer, since 2018.

The singer and musician doesn’t perform full-time as she used to due to the fatigue caused by her condition, but the As Long As I (Can Be With You) singer does come out for a short set during the show.’

‘We’ve worked out that she can come out and sing a few songs, and it’s important that the fans know what’s going on because they haven’t seen her in five years. Patti decided she owed that to her audience,’ Springsteen explained.

The tireless performer is still traveling on the 2024/2025 world tour with shows scheduled across Canada through November 22. After a well deserved rest, he and the E Street Band will pickup again in May in Manchester, England before crisscrossing Europe.

Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band debuts on Disney+ and Hulu October 25.
