Bruce Springsteen thanks Broadway for ‘welcoming him’ while accepting special Tony for one-man show

He’s a rock and roll legend. 

But Bruce Springsteen proved his talent went way beyond music on Sunday’s Tony Awards, where he was honored with a special award his hit one-man-show Springsteen On Broadway.

New Jersey’s favorite son, 68, accepted his award with an emotional speech, telling audiences winning a Tony is ‘one of the most exciting things I’ve ever experienced.’

‘This is deeply appreciated, and thanks for making me feel so welcome on your block,’ the Born To Run ocker told the audience of Broadway talents.

Bruce looked dapper as can be at the event, where he donned all black formal wear.

His beautiful wife of 26-years Patti Scialfa was the perfect contrast, radiating style in a white gown with a sexy thigh slit and chic silver embellishments.

It was a genuine family affair for the Nebraska artist, who brought along kids Evan James Springsteen, Jessica Rae Springsteen and Sam Ryan Springsteen.

Fellow American music great Billy Joel introduced Springsteen and welcomed him to the stage, telling the audience it was his ‘pleasure to present a special Tony Award to my good friend Bruce Springsteen.

Bruce’s stage show has been a resounding hit since it first premiered last October, performing 130 shows and raking in $65m as of June 3, according to Playbill. 

Springsteen’s win means he is now part of an exclusive group of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winners, or EGOTs for short.

Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg and Mike Nichols are among others who have achieved the quadruple honor.
