Bryan Brown’s daughter Matilda opens up about struggling with an eating disorder for more than a decade and shares how meeting her MKR star husband Scott Gooding helped her

Actress Matilda Brown has revealed how meeting her husband saved her from ‘years’ of struggling with eating disorders.

Matilda, the daughter of Aussie acting icons Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward, told how she struggled with her relationship with food and fad diets since she was a teenager.

The Death And Life Of Otto Bloom star, 37, revealed meeting her husband, My Kitchen Rules star Scott Gooding, 48, helped to stop seeing food as the ‘enemy’.

‘I grew up a pretty curvy teenager and went on fad diet after fad diet to try and loose weight,’ she told Woman’s Day.

‘I had eating disorders all through my 20s and it wasn’t until I met Scott who, being a nutritionist and someone who is so into health, that I learned about nutrition and what my body needed.’

‘I learned to love food again because food was the enemy for so long,’ Matilda added in the wide-ranging interview.

Chef and nutritionist Scott appeared on the 2013 season of My Kitchen Rules with kitchen partner Luke Hines and has now teamed up with Matilda to release a new cookbook.

Their new tome The Good Farm Cookbook is set to hit shelves later this month, with Matilda revealing her mother Rachel was also an inspiration behind the book.

She told how Rachel impressively turned the family’s farm in Nambucca Heads on the New South Wales mid-north coast into a fully-fledged regenerative cattle farm.

Matilda married Scott back in 2019 in a stunning vintage-themed ceremony at Cockatoo Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sydney Harbour.

The couple welcomed their first child together Zan, now five, in May 2019, before their daughter Anouk, now three, arrived in 2021.

Scott also has a son Tashi, 15, from a previous relationship.

Matilda has been open about her journey through motherhood, documenting her experiences with her family on social media.

‘What was life before Zan? I can’t even remember. Nor do I ever want to go back,’ she wrote on one post in 2019.

That same year, she also spoke about her father Bryan’s involvement in her son’s birth.

‘On the night I went into labour, Dad was supposed to drop mum at the hospital (mum was my doula) and then wait in the waiting room,’ she recalled.

‘But he ended up coming into the room and stayed for the entire birth. When I was pushing Zan out at the end dad was stroking my head and mum was cheering me on, crying, saying ”Come on Til, he’s so close”.’
