BTS teams up with Disney+ for several new projects including three exclusive series

Fans will soon be able to watch BTS on one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world. 

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the Korean boy band’s management company HYBE entered into a collaboration with Disney+ to work on exclusive content. 

The partnership includes five new projects, three of which are slated to be exclusive series.

‘We are thrilled to be collaborating with Hybe to showcase their original content created with powerful artist IP on our global streaming services including Disney+,’ said Disney’s APAC head of content Jessica Kam-Engle. 

She continued, ‘This collaboration represents our creative ambition – to work with iconic content creators and top stars in Asia Pacific so their talent can be enjoyed by mainstream audiences in multiple ways. We believe these new titles will captivate consumers worldwide and look forward to introducing more music content on our service.’

The publication also reported that one of the BTS original content pieces will be a filmed version of one of their Permission to Dance tour dates in Los Angeles.

The show will be titled BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA and will reportedly be ‘an exclusive cinematic 4K concert film featuring BTS’ live performance in Los Angeles’ Sofi Stadium in November 2021.’

There will also be a docu-series titled BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star that will follow the boy band’s journey. 

The docu-series will debut in 2023 and will show footage of the group for nearly a decade.

BTS formed in 2010 and released their first studio album in 2014. The group has released a total of nine studio albums in the past eight years. 

They last released an album in 2020 when they dropped three LPs: Map of the Soul: 7, Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey and Be. 

Map of the Soul: 7 and Be were both certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
