A woman has saved an astonishing $150 by taking advantage of birthday freebies and bargains offered by shops to help you celebrate your big day.

Skye Clarke, from Brisbane, shared her mega ‘birthday freebies’ haul on Facebook – which includes a free Big Mac burger, a free large smoothie from Boost Juice and a free small cappuccino from Gloria Jean’s.

‘My birthday… freebies,’ Skye wrote online.

She accompanied her post with several images of what she had managed to snap up.

What did Skye get in her birthday haul?

* Big Mac Burger – $6.15

* Whopper Burger – $6.40

* Boost Juice Large Smoothie – Up to $7.80

* Gloria Jeans small cap – $4.50

* Zarraffa large caramel cap – $6

* Kitchen 66 (2 x lunch meals) – $15

* Churros for two – $16

* 4 x Krispy Kreme – $11.80

* Muffin Break muffin – $4.50

* Dusk gift voucher – $20

* Noodle Box – $11.95

* Taco Bell regular meal – Up to $16

* Hogs Breath meal – Up to $27.95

TOTAL = $154.05

Among Skye’s goodies were a free Big Mac burger worth $6.15, a free Whopper burger from Hungry Jack’s worth $6.40 and a Boost Juice Large Smoothie, which is worth as much as $7.80.

She also got a large caramel cappuccino worth $6 from Zarraffa, a small cappuccino from Gloria Jeans worth $4.50, and two lunch meals from Kitchen 66 worth $15.

Skye managed to locate four Krispy Kremes worth $11.80, a muffin from Muffin Break worth $4.50 and noodles from Noodle Box worth $11.95.

She got a regular meal from Taco Bell worth $16 and a regular Hogs Breath meal worth up to $27.95.

It wasn’t just food the thrifty woman found either.

Elsewhere, she managed to find a gift voucher from Dusk for $20, which sells scented candles and stylish home decor.

These items aren’t the only freebies you can take advantage of on your birthday. 

Subway will give you a free 6-inch sub and drink if you sign up to Subway’s Eat Fresh Club, while Myer One members get free gift cards on their birthdays with the prices ranging for what level of membership you currently fall into.

If you’re signed up as a member of IKEA, you can even get your hands on a free IKEA birthday cake.

Priceline pharmacy offer $5 off purchases with their Sister Club, while Mecca and Sephora beauty stores gift shoppers with a boxed package in store.

Keen travellers can also make use of Qantas’ Frequent Flyer program, where Qantas will lower points needed by 15 per cent.

She suggested ‘taking care with vouchers’ as they can be a ‘trigger to spend more’.

Effie also recommended reading the privacy terms when signing up to a store or outlet’s database, setting up a separate email account for vouchers, and understanding that you will get junk mail.
