A budgeting expert has revealed the money-focused questions that you must always ask a potential partner to assess their ‘mindset and goals’ – and ensure that your relationship won’t end in tears… or bankruptcy.
Caelyn Sutton, from Atlanta, Georgia, took to TikTok to share a slideshow of the most important things you need to find out before deciding if your date is really the one for you.
They include quizzing your future significant other about their ‘giving’ budget and ‘splurges’ as well as what they would spend their money on if they won the lottery.
But would you ask these questions before progressing your relationship to the next stage?

In the post, the entrepreneur, who goes by CorporateCae on the video sharing platform, revealed what people should be asking their potential partners.
Cae, who regularly shares financial tips and tricks, created a slideshow to round-up the nine most essential queries.
But she was quick to stress that these apply to both men and women.
The first was: ‘On a scale of one to 10, how well do you manage your money (in terms of budgeting, knowing your credit score, debt).’
And this was followed by: ‘What are your short-term and long-term financial goals?’
But then things start to get a little less straightforward.
Cae urged daters to ask: ‘If your finances were a movie, what would it be titled?’
Other topics that must be covered are questions about what they ‘splurge’ on, what drives their financial decisions and whether they include ‘giving’ in their budget.

She said you must also get any romantic interest to define what ‘financial freedom’ means to them before asking what they wished they ‘knew more about.’
Last – but by no means least – the financial coach said that the final question should be: ‘If you won the lottery tomorrow, what are the first three things you would spend money on?’
Cae uploaded the post alongside a caption that read: ‘Questions to help you learn your date’s or partner’s money mindset and goals.’
But she did not elaborate further about what the best answers to these questions would be.
