Bunnings manhunt for two men who allegedly stole instant hot water systems in smash-and-grab raid

Police are searching for two men who were involved in a smash-and-grab raid at a branch of hardware giant Bunnings.

Several instant hot water systems were stolen from the Bunnings warehouse on Dalton Road in Thomastown, in Melbourne’s north, on February 25.

Investigators believe the pair drove into the store just before 5pm, using a stolen Ford Falcon sedan.

The two men loaded the three instant hot water systems into the car before attempting to drive off, say police.

Quick-thinking staff tried to block their escape by lowering the roller doors but the thieves accelerated and crashed through the exit, narrowly missing shoppers.

It’s believed the vehicle had been stolen from a property in St Albans earlier that day.

Victoria Police have released an image of a man, which they believe may assist investigators.
