Burglars escaped down dead end arrested in Victoria

  • Two burglars were arrested after fleeing from police down a dead-end street

  • A man, 28, from Dallas and a St Kilda woman, 27, are helping police with inquiries

Two bungling burglars have been arrested in Melbourne’s north after driving down a dead-end street while trying to escape police.

After a series of burglaries at Preston and Westmeadows overnight, the man and woman were spotted by police crashing their stolen car into a Beecher Street house in Thornbury about 4.50am.

A short police chase followed before the duo drove into a dead-end street and were promptly arrested.

Police say the stolen vehicle attempted to ram a patrol car once cornered in Western Avenue Westmeadows which is a dead end street, where the two occupants were arrested.

A 28-year-old man from Dallas and a 27 year-old St Kilda woman are currently assisting police with their inquiries.
