Bus driver crashes into Marquette University when he ACCELERATES rather than brakes

This is the dramatic moment a bus driver accidentally accelerated instead of hitting the breaks, and crashed into Marquette University.

Calvert Campbell, the bus driver, will be taken off the road for at least six months following the Milwaukee County Transit System’s investigation into the May crash.

The driver appears to panic when he realizes he is taking the left turn too fast.

But instead of hitting the breaks, he seems to slam his foot on the accelerator.

Realizing his mistake, he screams and braces himself for impact moments before he crashes into a tree outside Johnston Hall, just east of Gesu Church in Milwaukee.

The rest of the passengers were sent flying out of their seats.

Campbell, 59, and three of his five passengers reported non-life threatening injuries after the crash on May 15

Milwaukee County Transit System examined the bus and found no evidence of mechanical failure.

Campbell, who has been a bus driver for 12 years without any accidents, has been taken off the road for six months, CBS 58 reported.

He will work cleaning and fueling the buses at night. 

Milwaukee County Transit System will reassess him after the six month period.
