Valentine’s Day has evolved into a commercial concept, with florists, restaurants and chocolate shops making a mint on February 14th.
However, some business-owners just can’t get the tone right when it comes to nailing romantic advertising.
Ahead of Cupid’s arrow being unleashed this year, people from around the world have shared hilarious examples on World Wide Interweb of the cringe-worthy fails some companies conjure up.
This Valentine’s Day sign has been put in a very unfortunate place in this supermarket
Classy! Subway thought it would be a good idea to use their famous ‘foot-long’ as a marketing ploy
Because what girl wouldn’t want to be treated to a plate of Hooters’ wings as a Valentine’s Day?
There’s the seafood restaurant with a billboard outside that reads: ‘give your Valentine crabs’.
And there’s the poorly-placed sign that reads ‘ideal for Valentine’s’, right next to a box of cucumbers in a local supermarket.
Even legal firms have used the romantic day to rake in new clients with… advertisements for divorce lawyers.
And the restaurant famous for making its waitresses wear next to nothing, Hooters, suggests chicken wings might be a decent gift for your betrothed: ‘This Valentine’s Day no ring? Give her wings!’
Who says romance is dead?
Love is a… movie called ‘Unfaithful’: This store puts infidelity at the top of couples’ February 14th wishlist
Love hurts: This advert is certainty not sugar-coating anything with this divorce advertisement
Tee hee: This slightly rude sign for an electrical store is one way to make customers giggle, that’s for sure
Clearly going for the couple who find comedy in terrible Valentine’s Day-inspired jokes, this billboard feels distinctly unappetising
Perfect for that couple that are completely inseparable – we all know them…
Gift ideas galore…but maybe stick to the left hand column if you don’t want to be single by February 16th
A slightly gory take, what gangsters and guns have to do with Valentine’s Day is a mystery
Quite possibly the most morbid approach to what should be the most romantic day of the year
Divorce me, baby: Whoever decided the lay-out of this store was clearly pretty bitter about something in their personal life
