Busy Philipps has detailed terrifying Uber rides, provided a first-hand account of the now infamous Academy Awards ‘Best Picture’ blunder and even spent a drunken night locked outside her house in videos posted to her Instagram account this year.
The 38-year-old actress had not however had anything in the way of an on-camera freakout on the social media platform though. until Thursday.
Philipps was on the set of a new commercial she was shooting when Jon Cooper, the Chairman of The Democratic Coalition. tweeted: ‘Sarah Huckabee Sanders even looked habitually pissed when she was a teenager! I guess having @GovMikeHuckabee as your dad does that to you.’
Beneath that was not a photo of Sanders however, but rather of Philipps in her role as Kim Kelly in the cult TV show ‘Freaks and Geeks.’
Philipps got to typing and filming right away, sharing a series of videos about the mix-up on Instagram as well sending out a number of tweets, the first of which read: ‘ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME? IS THIS A JOKE? THIS IS ME FROM FREAKS AND GEEKS. FAKE NEWS.’
That same vulgarity also crept into Philipps’ Instagram videos, which as a brand ambassador to companies like Campbell’s and Michael’s in the past have always made a point of using more family-friendly language.
Bad reputation: A photo of Busy Philipps from the set of Freak and Geeks was used in a Twitter post claiming to show the ‘habitually pissed’ Sarah Huckabee as a teenager (above)
Up a creek: That post was from Jon Cooper, the Chairman of The Democratic Coalition, and quickly earned the ire of Philipps (above on unstagram), who took to Twitter and Instagram
Less than thrilled: ‘ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME? IS THIS A JOKE? THIS IS ME FROM FREAKS AND GEEKS. FAKE NEWS,’ wrote 38-year-old Philipps (above)
ALSO I LOOK NOTHING LIKE SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL -?!?????!!!!!’ added Philipps in a second tweet.
‘I AM NEVER GETTING OVER THIS. I AM ACTUALLY DEAD NOW.’
And for her final tweet, the caps-lock loving mother-of-two dialed it down and took aim at the suggestion of misogyny in Cooper’s original tweet.
‘ALSO. Pick on a woman for the insane lies she tells. Not cause she looks pissed off while telling them. I love women who look pissed off,’ wrote Philipps.
Fans looking for a more in depth look at Philipps’ rage could then move from her Twitter to her Instagram account, where she shared a handful of lengthy stories discussing how she felt about the incident.
‘Guys, I don’t know who that guy is, Jon Cooper, who just tweeted that picture of me, but if i look like Sarah f***ing Huckabee … you’ve got to be f***ing kidding me,’ said Philipps while waiting in her trailer to be called to set.
‘I’m sorry, I’m very upset about this. It’s not OK.’
And when in the next clip she did get called to set she was even more annoyed, saying: ‘I am so angry I have to go back. I am beside myself. What in god’s name … who … what is happening in this world.’
Philipps is actually three years older than Huckabee, who is 35 and like the actress also has two children.
The White House Press Secretary has not weighed in on the mishap and is busy dealing with her own controversy after ordering the firing of an ESPN employee who called her boss President Trump a ‘white supremacist.’
Going: ALSO I LOOK NOTHING LIKE SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL -?!?????!!!!!’ added Philipps in a second tweet.
Hold up: For her final tweet, Philipps dialed it down and took aim at the suggestion of misogyny in Cooper’s original tweet (above)
Brunettes: Huckabee (left) and Philipps (right in 2005) are both married mothers with tweo children, though the White House Press Secretary is three years younger than Philipps
Not helping matters no doubt was the fact that Philipps was admittedly exhausted due to the fact that her daughter had been sick and kept her up all night.
She had revealed that news earlier in the day in a photo posted to her Instagram story.
Philipps’ rage at Cooper turned out to be all for naught in the end though, as he took down the tweet and revealed he had actually found the photo when he did an Internet search for Huckabee.
‘I deleted this tweet after I found out the pic wasn’t Sanders but rather an actress w/ a huge fan base (who now all HATE me, lol). My bad!’ wrote Cooper soon after Philipps posted to her sociel media accounts.
‘My advice: Just because a Google search identifies an image as being a certain person, take that with a grain of salt! It could be wrong.’
Philipps responded to Cooper’s admission with, what else, more Instagram stories.
‘You guys, I’m dying. That guy deleted the tweet, which means he wasn’t just trying to make a shi*** joke. He legitimately thought that i was Sarah Huckabee Sanders.’
Philips went on to say: ‘Where do we go from here? What happened? You guys, the Internet is a crazy place and you gotta watch out.
She then closed with a warning, stating: ‘You can’t believe everything you Google, that’s all I’m gonna say. Cause sometimes you’re gonna Google me.’
