Behind the vine-covered facade of a rustic barn lies an Italian-inspired farmhouse with a dreamy design, luxurious bathroom and sweeping countryside views. 

The luxurious barn is named Le Viti, which translates to ‘the vines’ in Italian, and sits atop a hill in the stunning hinterlands just south of Byron Bay near the small town of Newrybar.

Italian and Australian designs were blended during the 80-year-old barn’s restoration to create a dreamy sanctuary perfect for a quiet getaway.

The cosy lounge has a bright white colour palette contrasted by the warming black wood-fireplace as well as soaring vaulted ceilings and sleek gallery kitchen stretched across the room’s rear wall.

French doors open out to a hardwood pergola covered in draping vines with both a dining area and seating lounge that looks out past the ground’s 100-year-old fig tree over the Byron Bay hinterland. 

Off the lounge, huge cedar doors lead into the simple-yet-chic master bedroom that is filled with light thanks to the tall windows that showcase the home’s picturesque views. 

The sunken bathroom is the perfect place to relax and unwind with a sculptural stone bathtub by the window to take in the views, calming curved rendered walls and a double shower. 

Owner Gemma Andrews who bought the property just three weeks after moving to the Northern Rivers, told The Dharma Door the bathroom is one of her favourite features of the home. 

‘At the time I questioned whether or not it would work, due to its angles, but I’m so happy with the outcome,’ she said.

‘The large scale of the space, soft textures, oversized 4×4 shower tiles and of course, those terracotta herringbone tiles that are a crowd favourite.’

Gemma describes the incredible barn as a ‘delightful blend between high-end luxury and warm, natural elements’.

Both the barn’s name and landscaping was decided on as an homage to the local Bundjalung people who know Newrybar as a ‘place of climbing vines’. 

Guests can book a stay at Le Viti Barn from $600 a night with a three night minimum stay from Byron Beach Abodes.
