And one savvy investor, from Perth, has attempted to turn the $4.80 treat into a lucrative business after listing 25 blocks of chocolates for a staggering $1,250.

The wildly popular chocolates are currently stocked in supermarkets across Australia but many customers revealed they are selling out fast at their local stores.

‘I’m from Ballarat, Victoria. Been to a few supermarkets and turned up blank,’ Wendy said in a Facebook group.

Kay said: ‘I’ve been searching in Canberra and can’t find it.’ 

Laurel said: ‘I can’t even get one block, all gone.’

‘Searched high and low in Bathurst and found nothing,’ Lauren said.

Pam said: ‘I’ve been to four supermarkets – Ipswich and outer west Brisbane – and can’t find any.’

Other customers were shocked to see the prices marked on the chocolates on eBay, with prices going for as much as $50 each. 

‘I found where some of the supermarket stock has disappeared to: eBay,’ Hugh said.

‘It’s disappointing there are so many unscrupulous people out there (hoping naive buyers will pay a premium not realising it’s available in supermarkets again).’

Sarah said: ‘I really hope people aren’t that naive. I’m just stashing mine to eat or make it into other delicious things.’

Bree said: ‘These sellers really need to get a job.’

Many shoppers have spotted other customers bulk buying the products.

‘Came to Woolies to find all Caramilk gone. One lady just bought 17 blocks! Like… c’mon. Are you going to eat 17 blocks?’ one customer said.

‘I had to literally beg, with another random Caramilk addict for just a block. The grocery manager let us have two blocks each. Grateful – yes. Annoyed – yes.’

And Jannette joked: ‘Caramilk, there must be more in consumer cupboards than on the shelves.’
