Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever secure WNBA playoff spot… thanks to the help of rival Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky

The Indiana Fever have officially secured their spot in the WNBA playoffs this season, the exclamation point of a phenomenal rebuilding effort from Caitlin Clark and her teammates.

Clark and the Fever only have the chance to rest easy on Wednesday morning due to losses from a pair of other teams, including their nearby rivals, the Chicago Sky.

Matchups between the Sky and Fever have been some of the most anticipated in the WNBA this season with star rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese facing off.

The Fever won the season series over the Sky 3-1, with Clark’s season high of 31 points occurring in the latest matchup between the Midwestern rivals.

The Las Vegas Aces were the ones to hand the Sky a loss on Tuesday night, while the Atlanta Dream also were defeated on Tuesday, clearing the route for Indiana to the playoffs.

The Phoenix Mercury also qualified for the WNBA playoffs by defeating Atlanta.

Seven of the eight spots in the league’s postseason have now been claimed, with the Sky and Dream tied for the final spot at 11-23. The Washington Mystics are a half-game behind that duo.

The Fever have seven games left in the regular season and are three games back of the fifth-place Seattle Storm.

Indiana started the season 1-8, looking like a rebuild would have to wait until next season.

Since, the Fever have gone 16-8, one of the best records in the WNBA to vault up the standings and pass six teams into clinching a playoff spot.

Now the only question is whether Reese can join Clark in the postseason in their first year in the WNBA.
