Caitlin Clark admitted how she felt over some of the coverage on the WNBA, with several narratives falling around her rookie season.
A particular line that gets thrown around is whether or not she is being targeted by veterans in the league despite the eyes she brings to women’s basketball.
The noise got amplified when Chicago’s Chennedy Carter appeared to yell ‘You b****’ before bodychecking Clark in their June 1 showdown. When asked how much attention she pays to the controversial assumptions, Clark opened up about how she feels about how the media portrays the league.
‘Sometimes it stinks how much, you know, the conversation is outside of basketball,’ Clark said.
‘And not the product on the floor, and the amazing players that are on the floor and how good they are for their teams and how great this season has been for women’s basketball going from college basketball to now the WNBA.’

The No 1 overall pick also revealed that while she is staying away from the noise created by social media, she can’t avoid seeing how stories revolving around her and her peers are presented.
‘I’m not on social media, so I don’t see a lot of it,’ Clark added. ‘But you would be surprised, I still have my TV on in my house, and I’m watching sports. You’re still aware of it. You still see it. But other than that, my focus is basketball.’
To add to the amplified physicality, Clark’s college rival and Chicago rookie Angel Reese has actively been taking jabs at the No. 1 overall pick.
Aside from aiming at Clark on social media after a win over the New York Liberty in May, Reese said she embraced being the ‘bad guy’ after cheering Carter for throwing her shoulder into the former Iowa star.

Nevertheless, Clark had the last laugh in their first WNBA clash as she scored 11 points, including two late three-pointers to lead Indiana to a 71-70 win.
After capturing their second win of the season, Clark would struggle in a blowout loss to the New York Liberty. The rookie scored only three points as Breanna Stewart and Co. rag-dolled the Fever 104-68.
Clark and the Fever will hit the second stop of their three-game road stint on Friday when they face the Mystics in Washington DC.
