California congressman lauds Trump with profane comment

Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., used some rough language to describe President Trump – but in a flattering way.

Hunter said, ‘He’s an a**hole, but he’s our a**hole.’

Hunter used the profane seven-letter term for part of the human anatomy to describe the president in remarks to a group of fellow Republicans last week.

The California lawmaker wanted them to know that Trump was one of their own.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Monday that the remark at a Murrieta, California, sports bar Friday was received mostly favorably by the Riverside County Young Republicans.

Hunter was appearing alongside Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif., at the event.

A young woman, according to the San Diego paper’s sources, asked the lawmakers what President Trump was like in person.

‘He’s just like he is on TV,’ Hunter replied.

He then made the ‘a**hole’ quip.

The crowd loved Hunter’s comments, one of the attendees told the San Diego Union-Tribune.

‘Very much. They were fine with that answer,’ said attendee Whitney Walsh.

Another attendee, however, though Hunter’s crass wording lacked the respect usually reserved for the president of the United States.

‘I may not be a Trump supporter, but the president of our United States is supposed to be incredibly respected,’ said attendee Tami Sims to the newspaper. ‘But for someone on his side to say that, it really did surprise me.’

‘I thought it was incredibly derogatory,’ Sims added.

The comment was confirmed by Hunter’s office.

Hunter was one of the first lawmakers to endorse Trump.

He announced his support before meeting the now-president, though was later named Trump’s envoy to Congress.
