California mom accused of hosting sex parties for teens was social media pro who went by ‘Nun’

The California mom accused of hosting wild alcohol-fueled sex parties for her 15-year-old son and his teen friends allegedly went by ‘the Nun’ on social media and lured girls with gifts such as Tiffany jewelry, a new report says.

Shannon O’Connor, 47, who is accused of luring 14- and 15-year-olds to her $4.7 million home in Los Gatos, is painted as a tech-savvy ‘predator’ who taught the teens how to lie and even allegedly used gifts in order to bait them, parents say.

A Denver Post article published Sunday details the tactics O’Connor allegedly used to gain the teens’ trust.

‘She’s really good with the phones. She’s a pro with social media,’ one mom told the outlet. ‘She tries to put a wedge between the parents and children. She’s a predator.’

O’Connor was extradited October 19 from Boise, Idaho, to Santa Clara County, California, and later arraigned on 39 charges, including felony child endangerment, child molestation, sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. 

She was denied bail last week and hit with 15 protective orders barring her from contacting the victims, including her own child.

O’Connor, a mother of two, allegedly organized at least a half-dozen large parties and a smattering of smaller gatherings at her home in Los Gatos, but also in Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe, where prosecutors said she would ply 14- and 15-year-olds with vodka, hand out condoms, encourage minors to have sex, and even watch and laugh while the teenagers engaged in sex acts, some of which were said to be nonconsensual.

A mother in Boise, Idaho told the Post she became acquainted with O’Connor after learning she planned to relocate to the state.

The mom, whose identity was not disclosed, said that when her daughter began dating O’Connor’s son, she overlooked red flags in the relationship – including the fact that O’Connor pampered the teenage girl with a dozen roses and a $200 Tiffany necklace.

She even ordered Uber Eats to the girl’s home when she was hungry, the mother claimed.

The mom said she later received a tip from a California parent and began pouring through her daughter’s text messages for clues.

The online trail revealed that O’Connor was purportedly helping her daughter sneak out of the house after her parents were asleep.

‘Are you alone,’ the text said, according to the Post interview. ‘Are your parents asleep? Did he get in OK?’

O’Connor allegedly communicated with underage teens on Snapchat under the alias ‘the Nun’

The relationship between the teens promptly ended, but O’Connor reportedly wasn’t ready to let go.

She allegedly tried reaching out to the girl through various Snapchat accounts, and the teen received dozens of blocked calls -including 27 within a three-hour time span.

When the girl accepted the call, the only sound at the other end was heavy breathing, the Denver Post reported.

The girl’s mom told the outlet that phone records traced the calls back to O’Connor.

‘We were really all fooled by the “cool mom” thing,’ she said. ‘Looking back … the red flags were there.’

Officials in Idaho, where O’Connor had recently moved with her children, said that when deputies arrived to arrest her earlier this month on a fugitive warrant, they found a dozen teenagers at her home.

Another mother whose daughter dated O’Connor’s son shared with the Post her own  ‘insane’ experience.

Soon after her daughter began a relationship with Connor’s son, she started exhibiting uncharacteristic behavior such as lying and drinking – even passing out at the table, her mom said.

The teen later disclosed that she was victimized at O’Connor’s parties.

‘Shannon was telling her what to do and when and how to lie to me and her dad,’ the girl’s mom told the outlet.

‘It was just completely insane.’

Another set of parents told the Post that they became suspicious of their son’s childhood friendship after picking him up from a Halloween party O’Connor hosted last year.

The 14-year-old was standing barefoot near the street ‘wet and cold,’ the outlet reported, adding the teen threw up and smelled like alcohol.

While the boy was sleeping, the parents said they began reading incoming Snapchat messages on his phone.

O’Connor allegedly taught the teens to lie to their parents about the parties she hosted

That’s when they learned O’Connor – under the moniker ‘the Nun’ – was using the platform to discuss the party, which happened while she and her husband weren’t home.

Nun reportedly said in the thread: ‘How did it all go’.

A boy replied: ‘Thank you Shannon!’

She then pivoted toward damage control, saying: ‘do ur parents knkw [sic],’ and ‘Did anyone know I wasn’t there.’ 

Judge Johnny Gogo denied bail to O’Connor last week after prosecutors said that they have ‘clear and convincing evidence that if the defendant were to be released to the public, there is likely going to be great bodily harm to the victims in this case and to members of the public,’ the East Bay Times reported.

Deputy District Attorney Rebekah Wise also alleged that O’Connor, who had relocated with her sons to Star, Idaho, where she allegedly continued throwing boozy parties for minors, was a flight risk.

O’Connor hosted parties inside her 5,122-square-foot Los Gatos home, which was recently listed for sale at $4.7 million.

The two-acre property boasts a pool, spa, sports court, nanny quarters and five ensuite bedrooms.

She faces more than 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts. 

O’Connor also faces unrelated fraud charges of more than $120,000 in unauthorized charges on company credit cards while working as an administrative assistant at Aruba Networks.

Prosecutors said O’Connor used the cards to charge limousine rides, clothing purchases and alcohol deliveries to her home.
