A California sheriff’s deputy has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a minor.
Shauna Bishop, 44, was arrested Thursday and will appear in court next week on five counts pertaining to the case.
Bishop is a five-year veteran with the Sacramento Police Department, according to The New York Post.
She is facing one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, one count of child molestation and three counts of oral copulation with a minor.
Investigators have been looking into the case for several weeks, and Bishop was placed on paid leave last month.
Folsom police obtained an arrest warrant for the deputy on Thursday. She was booked before being released from prison later that day.
Her alleged victim is reported to be a 16-year-old boy.
Authorities say she did not meet the teen through work, and that their alleged sexual encounters happened whilst she was off-duty.
Bishop had reportedly volunteered with the Sheriff’s Activities League, where she worked with at-risk children and teenagers.
Police do not believe there are other victims in the case.
