Karlie Kloss has been berated by Instagram followers after urging them to call their senators to end Trump’ zero tolerance immigration policy when she has a direct in with his son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner.
On Wednesday morning, Kloss, who has been dating Kushner’s Democrat brother Joshua for six years, took to social media to condemn the ongoing separation of migrant families at the border and implored her fans to take a stand against it.
Sharing a photograph of the number for the US Senate, Kloss said ‘no matter what side of the aisle’ her fans were on, it was time for them to ‘speak up’.
‘It’s heartbreaking to watch from halfway across the world what is happening in our own country.
‘It’s not the time to say “there are no words”, there are many. Politicizing the lives of these defenseless children and ripping them from their parents is heartless. We have to be the voices for these kids, and I support anyone standing up to do right by them.

She then posted a video of herself calling the number herself to prove she stood with fans
‘What can you do? Many things but FIRST, call your congressperson RIGHT NOW and support the bill, US – S 3036.
‘No matter what side of the aisle you are on – speak up,’ she said.
She then shared video proof of her calling the number she had posted while sitting in a car.
Many applauded her call to action but others were outraged by it given the close connection she has to the administration.
‘What a joke. “Call your congressperson”. How about “call your brother in law and buddy Ivanka?’ said one critic.
‘Tell your boyfriend’s brother, genius,’ said another.
‘Dear Karlie, you can make a difference, just not on social media.
‘Talk to the people in power, talk to the people at the WH, that’s actually your family in law!’ quipped another.

‘Can you have a word with Joshua Kushner or Jared? Maybe since you’re good friends with Ivanka you can knock some sense into these barbaric acts,’ was another comment.
Kloss, 25, a former Victoria’s Secret angel, has never made any attempt to present herself as a Republican or even a Trump supporter despite her boyfriend’s connection to the First Family.
She has posed for photographs with Jared and Ivanka in the past but is rigid in her self-portrayal as a Democrat.
In the November 2016 election, she posted a photograph of herself in the polling booth with the hashtag ‘I’m with her’, the unanimous marker of support for Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton.
She and Joshua both attended the Women’s March in January 2017 which was a unified show of protest against Trump and his treatment of women, and they were both present at the March for Our Lives event in a show of defiance against his gun laws.

Joshua, who is a successful New York entrepreneur, admitted before the election that he would not be voting for Trump, his brother’s boss.
He has said little else of his stance but revealed in April that he and Jared speak ‘every day’ despite their political differences.
‘Jared and I still speak every day,’ he said simply when interviewed by Forbes.
Kloss is the latest in a chorus of celebrities, public figures and politicians who have expressed disgust and outrage over the ongoing situation on the border.
The issue has dominated headlines and conversations since heartbreaking images of toddlers being confronted by border agents after sneaking in to the country with their parents emerged last week.
As a result of the zero tolerance policy, adults who are caught trying to sneak into the country are taken to detention centers to be processed.

Depending on which country they come from (Mexicans are ordinarily turned back directly to their home country), many have to wait weeks or months before they are sent home or prosecuted.
Meanwhile, their children are taken to other camps to be held away from them. Arrangements are then made for them in their home country.
Trump has defended the act by saying it is not his doing but that of Democrats whose laws he deemed ‘cruel’.
His representatives have since tried to argue that not everyone who comes to the border as an apparent family is in fact related and Conservative pundits have even gone as far as to label the screaming toddlers ‘child actors’.
