British number one Cam Norrie overcame a second set wobble to move into the last 16 of the Miami Open as he battled past Hugo Gaston 6-3 7-5 on Sunday.
The 26-year-old has had a strong start to 2022, which has included runs to the Mexican Open final and the Indian Wells quarter-finals.
He continued his excellent form by seeing off his French opponent in the blistering heat in Florida to edge closer to breaking into the top 10 in the world rankings.
Cam Norrie managed to hold his nerve to see off a determined Hugo Gaston in Miami
Gaston started brightly by breaking Norrie in the first game of the match, but the Brit hit back straight away to level the scoreline, and he broke again shortly after to open up a 3-1 lead.
Both men went on to hold serve for the next five games as Norrie closed out the opening set with relative ease.
He appeared to be on course for a comfortable afternoon when he broke Gaston in the seventh game of the second set to move 4-3 ahead, and he served for the match at 5-4.

Six match points came and went, and Gaston managed to up his level, ripping a backhand passing shot up the line to get back to 5-5.
However, Norrie showed his resilience by gathering himself and securing his fourth break of the match to hand himself another opportunity to serve for the win.
Another match point passed him by, but this time Norrie would not be denied, and he sealed his place in the round of 16 with an emphatic ace.
Norrie will now face Casper Ruud or Alexander Bublik for a place in the quarter-finals.
