Cameron Norrie tumbles out of Australian Open with first-round defeat by Taylor Fritz in straight sets
- British player Cameron Norrie bowed out of the Australian Open on Monday
- The 23-year-old lost 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 to American Taylor Fritz in the first round
- Norrie had reached the Auckland Open final going into this tournament
Cameron Norrie failed to build on reaching his first ATP Tour final last week as he was beaten in straight sets by Taylor Fritz.
Norrie went to Melbourne full of confidence after his run in Auckland, but crashed 6-4 7-6 6-2 to the world No 50.
Norrie missed his chance to draw level in a tight second set before falling away in the third as Fritz ultimately cruised into the second round.

Norrie lost in straight sets to American Taylor Fritz 6-4 7-6 6-2 on Monday in Melbourne
The world No 50 proved too good for Norrie and now can look forward to a second-round tie
Fritz is Norrie’s double partner but the American came out on top this time – having lost to the Brit during the Auckland Open last week.
Norrie reached the final of that tournament but lost to Tennys Sandgren.
