Nine children have been injured in a scaffolding collapse at a Sydney special needs school.

The students at Beverley Park School at Campbelltown, in Sydney’s south-west, were preparing for school photos about 10am on Monday when the structure came down.

It is understood the students – aged between 16 and 18 – were treated for a variety of leg, torso and head injuries at the scene.

Paramedics have so far transported nine children to hospital, all with minor injuries.

Police were seen at the school taking photos of the metal structure, which had been set up on the grass oval.
