A talented baker has tricked fans after asking them to ‘spot the cake’ among her pantry items.
Melbourne baker Tegan ‘Tigga’ Maccormack is known for creating lifelike cakes from her home and has gained a following of more than half a million.
In a now-viral TikTok video, several common items can be seen in the pantry, including cereals, sauce bottles, canned beans, honey and tea – but few noticed the jar of Vegemite was in fact a cake.
‘The cake was of course a Vegemite jar… I modelled it after the largest size you can get Vegemite in – the same size jar I have in my cupboard,’ Tegan said in the video.
The Vegemite cake is the latest addition to the ‘Straya’ series Tegan and her business partner Katie have been creating – and they have impressed thousands after making a Bunnings’ sausage and fairy bread cake.

The perfectly matched colours and edible label scanned from the real Vegemite jar made the cake look incredibly realistic.
To make the cake, Tegan closely replicated the exact look of the Vegemite jar and baked a delicious chocolate mud cake as the filling.
Four round disks were carved out of cake and stacked on top of one another with a smooth chocolate filling in between to ensure the dessert stood up straight.
‘I used to cookie cutter to cut for circles out – I laid three together to make the jar and I use the other one for the lid,’ Tegan said in the video.
‘I layered and cover them in chocolate ganache and then I covered the jar in this black-brown fondant.’

‘You can see I did it upside down so when I flipped it over it would have fondant on the bottom and it wouldn’t be attached to board. This just meant that I better pick it up and handle it and take some good photos and it will just look more realistic,’ she said.
Once the shape of the cake was complete, she covered the lid in yellow fondant and made an extra strip to wrap around the edge.
‘A few people did say the lid was what gave it away and it definitely wasn’t exact copy but I think I did alright,’ she said.

On TikTok the video has since been viewed more than 183,000 times and many were stumped as to which product was the cake.
‘I had no idea which one it was!’ one person wrote.
‘Aren’t you a clever little Vegemite!’ another added.
A third added: ‘I loved this. I watched it twice too and it was the lid that gave it away for me, the detail was so good.’
