Can you spot the VERY embarrassing detail as footy star turned commentator Braith Anasta talks up the NRL in Las Vegas?

  • Braith Anasta was left slightly red-faced in Las Vegas
  • The footy legend made a speech ahead of the big games
  • Unfortunate timing saw him embarrassed

Braith Anasta was left slightly red-faced after learning that his speech at the Fox Sports NRL extravaganza was derailed by a racy advertisement in the background.

Anasta has jetted out to Las Vegas ahead of the 2024 NRL season opener in Sin City, with footy bosses making an ambitious attempt to capture a lucrative American audience.

The former footy star hosted the first NRL360 show of the season from the Vegas strip alongside Paul Kent, Gorden Tallis and Buzz Rothfield, having earlier addressed an audience of footy tragics on the magnitude of the event.

But in an unfortunate sequence of events, a truck with a billboard on its side pulled up behind Anasta as he made his speech.

The billboard displayed an advertisement which read ‘escorts direct to you’ along with a phone number.

Sharing an image of the sorry scene, Anasta posted on Instagram: ‘Unfortunate timing with the backdrop’.

But it was an otherwise seamless night for the NRL contingent in Sin City ahead of the weekend’s action.

ARLC chief Peter V’landys laid out his plans to grow footy in the United States before Anasta, Kent, Rothfield and Tallis shared their excitement at the Vegas bonanza.

‘It’s pretty special isn’t it,’ Kent said. ‘I’ve been covering the game a long time and I’ve never seen anything like this. I’m pretty impressed with the vibe that’s around and how people are responding to it.’

Away from Fox Sports, Channel Nine’s Danika Mason is in Las Vegas to report on the opening matches of the season.

The 33-year-old farewelled her NRL boyfriend Liam Knight at Sydney Airport last week after going public with the Canterbury star following her split from personal trainer fiance Todd Liubinskas before their wedding.

Curiously, Mason walked down the aisle at a Vegas chapel in a bizarre segment on Tuesday night’s news.

Sea Eagles star Jake Trbojevic announced his engagement to partner Alix Waddell over the off-season, leading to the Channel 9 news crew hitting the archetypal Vegas wedding venue in a cheeky stunt.

Mason handled the bizarre encounter well and was serenaded by an Elvis Presley impersonator when she reached the end of the aisle.
