A man has died after being tasered by police, who feared he was making an attempt on his own life.
Officers were called to a home in Canberra just after 11:30am on Tuesday where a man was allegedly smashing glass and screaming.
It was believed the man had seriously injured himself and police discharged a taser to attempt to control the situation on Larakia Street in Waramanga.
ACT paramedics then attempted to revive the man but he passed away at the scene.
A critical incident has been declared and investigations are continuing. A report is being prepared for the coroner.
