Candice Warner breaks down as she describes the moment she planned suicide

Candice Warner has shared the devastating moment she was on the brink of ending her life during the fallout from her ‘toilet tryst’ with Sonny Bill Williams.

The WAG told The Sunday Project that she stood on a cliff at a famous suicide spot and considered jumping off.

‘I just thought, “This is it.” I just couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t take the headlines. I couldn’t take disappointing my parents. I couldn’t take it all. It was all too much,’ she said, breaking down.

The 38-year-old says she called her brother, Pat, who came to her rescue.

‘From then on, Pat would come to my home and check in on me daily, and I felt I needed to get to that point to move on to some degree,’ she went on.

'It is really real for me. It is the pain that I caused my family. It is the pain and hurt - like, it was so deep,' she said. Sonny is pictured

Candice says that she felt her treatment was ‘unfair’ and reflected a ‘double standard’.

‘Most women were treated like that. For men, it was high-fives and “tell me all the details” but for women we were pigeonholed to be a certain person or a certain type of person,’ she said.

‘It still blows my mind to this day how I was forced to apologise for a pash that I had – a drunken pash that I had on a night out’.

Candice this weekend described how her life was ‘ruined’ when the hook up in the Clovelly Hotel bathroom back in 2007 was made public.

‘I got so close to ending it,’ she told this week’s issue of Stellar Magazine, while breaking down it tears.

‘The only thing I did wrong was go into a place I shouldn’t have been. That was it. Yet it ruined my life. It ruined parts of my family’s life – years we can never get back’

Candice went on to say that she dreads explaining the tryst to her young daughters when they are old enough.

‘It’s so hard to put into words without bursting into tears because it was so painful. It still is,’ she said.

‘One day I’m going to have to explain to my girls what it’s all about. That’s heartbreaking’.

Candice shares daughters Ivy Mae, eight, Indi Rae, seven, and Isla Rose, three, with Australian cricketer husband David Warner, 36.

The Ironwoman said that she lost work and ‘no-one respected her’ after it was made public.

‘I still carry that scar and hurt. My family had to be humiliated… it changed their lives,’ she said.

The shocking incident, in which she was photographed in a compromising position with Sonny by a peeping Tom, stirred up a huge media storm.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Ltd media company initially published her ‘toilet tryst’ images.

Candice has previously addressed the night she was caught in a bathroom hook up with Sonny Bill, 35, during a night out at the Clovelly Hotel in 2007.

Having been just 22 when the incident occurred, Candice said she had a hard time dealing with the public humiliation and the subsequent fallout.

‘I was almost suicidal. I went through a hell of a lot at such a young age. I got to the point where I literally couldn’t take it anymore,’ she told the The Daily Telegraph in 2020.

The former athlete suffered further after her husband David was caught cheating during a test match in South Africa in 2018.

She is currently gearing up for a publicity blitz for her tell-all memoir Running Strong which has already landed her an $80,000 advance.
