Ellie, from North London, said she got an extra Valentine’s treat when she was visited by some firemen
One boyfriend’s Valentine’s day surprise went wrong when he tried to surprise his girlfriend with a fire pit on the balcony.
Instead of a romantic treat, firefighters ended up coming to the North London apartment to put out a fire.
The video, shot on February 14, shows the moment the firefighters arrive at the flat to extinguish the fire.
A concerned neighbour or passerby appeared to think the flat was on fire and called 999.
The girlfriend, known only as Ellie, later wrote online: ‘My boyfriend arranged a Valentine’s Day surprise with scattered candles and a fit pit on the balcony.
‘Five minutes after arriving home, however, a fire engine turned up as someone had thought that there was a fire in the flat due to the flames.’
‘Two firemen came upstairs to put the fit pit out and check that there was no heat damage.
‘We were very apologetic to the firemen and they laughed it off.’
Ellie’s boyfriend had prepared a surprise, lighting up their living with room with candles and a bonsai tree explaining ‘flowers die but trees don’t’.
It also he also gave her a rose and put a firepit on the balcony.
Ellie jokes ‘I’m gonna get some fireman for Valentine’s Day, as an extra gift’, laughing she says ‘I feel so guilty’. They then put the fire out saying ‘it’s better to be safe than sorry, smoldering valentines’
