Cannes Film Festival got into full swing on Wednesday night with the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premiere which brought out a host of stars posing on the iconic red carpet.
Anya-Taylor Joy looked every inch the leading lady as she made her arrival, wearing a stunning strapless gown with a corset-style top.
The actress, 28, – who takes over as the younger Furiosa in the upcoming film which is set between 15 and 20 years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road – showed off her fashion credentials in the light gold number which was adorned with crystals and teamed with a statement silver necklace.
She wore her blonde tresses in a sleek bob and wore simple stud earrings while opting for a slick of red lip for a pop of colour.
Her leading man Chris Hemsworth, 40, – who plays warlord leader Dementus – soon made his arrival in a smart white suit and was joined by his glamorous wife Elsa Pataky who wore a chic black gown.

Anya and Chris arrived in France earlier in the week for the world premiere of their new Mad Max film.
And earlier on Wednesday Anya went braless in cardigan and hot pants as she was seen leaving her hotel ahead of the premiere.
The Queen’s Gambit star graciously stopped to take selfies with waiting fans, while keeping her eyes hidden under black sunglasses.
The flick – which is not being released to theatres until May 23 – is a prequel to lauded 2015 blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road.
Creator George Miller has returned to helm the movie, which is an origin story for the title character, played by Charlize Theron in the previous film.
Anya takes over as the younger Furiosa in the upcoming film, which is set between 15 and 20 years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, while Chris is playing warlord leader, Dementus.
The Thor star, 40, described the villainous character as ‘a very violent, insane, brutal person that is born from the Wasteland’.
He added: ‘[Dementus] has been birthed into a space where it’s kill or be killed. He’s learned to rule with an iron fist. There’s a charisma to him and it’s very manipulative.’
While the full reviews won’t be in until closer to the release date, early reactions to Furiosa from a wide range of film critics have been promising.
They lauded George’s direction and were full of universal praise for the performances of Anya and Chris, with many commenting the film was a worthy addition to the franchise.
George described the prequel as ‘a saga’ that will be told over a 15-year period, which is much different from Fury Road, which spanned three days in its timeframe.
Filming for Furiosa took place in New South Wales, Australia, beginning in June 2022 and wrapping up by October.
Anya recently admitted that filming had been a very difficult experience for her and hinted at several behind-the-scenes challenges.
In an interview with New York Times this week, she said: ‘I’ve never been more alone than making that movie.
‘I don’t want to go too deep into it, but everything that I thought was going to be easy was hard. Like I knew I was going to need the two years that it took for the movie to come out to deal with it.’
When pressed to elaborate, Anya cryptically replied: ‘Talk to me in 20 years.’
She confessed she wasn’t sure if she would be able to watch the film again, revealing she started ‘sobbing’ within ‘two minutes’ of viewing an early cut.
Anya added: ‘I wanted to be changed. I wanted to be put in a situation in extremis where I would have no choice but to grow. And I got it.
‘I will never regret this experience, on so many different levels, but it’s a very particular story to have.

‘There’s not everyone in the world that has made a Mad Max movie, and I swear to God, everyone that I’ve met that has, there’s a look in our eyes: We know. There’s an immediate kinship of like, ‘OK, hey, I see you’.’
She also expressed her love for George, but revealed the director had ‘a very, very strict idea of what Furiosa’s war face looked like and that only allowed me my eyes for a large portion of the movie.’
George also revealed last week that Anya only has 30 lines of dialogue in the 2 hour and 28 minute runtime of the film.
Speaking to The Telegraph, he explained: The problem with dialogue is that it tends to slow things down and film is a medium that’s often best enjoyed at high speed.’
