Capital Breakfast presenter Jordan North is forced to cancel gig due to illness – just hours before it was scheduled to begin

Capital Breakfast presenter Jordan North was forced to cancel his gig on Sunday due to illness – just hours before it was scheduled to begin.

The radio DJ, 34, was due to perform at the Young Farmers DIY AGM in Blackpool, but he had to cancel after falling ill.

Jordan took to his Instagram to break the news, writing: ‘So sorry to all the young farmers at Blackpool tonight but I’ve had to cancel my DJ set.

‘I hate cancelling gigs, but I’m in bed with a suspected bout of tonsillitis and it’s absolutely floored me.’

Jordan followed this up with a selfie of himself in bed, penning over the top: ‘What a way to spend a bank holiday! Was proper looking forward to that gig, too! So sorry.’

The Young Farmers DIY AGM returned after a four-year break on Friday and ended on Sunday in Winter Gardens.

Jordan joined Capital last month after 10 years at the BBC, replacing Roman Kemp, who had been at the station for 10 years.

The Radio 1 alum now co-hosts Capital Breakfast with Chris Stark and Sian Welby, who will soon go on maternity leave.

It was announced in February that Candy Kittens co-founder Jamie Laing would replace Jordan on Radio 1.

Jamie began on March 4 and quickly received criticism that he was turning the station into a Posh Boys Club.

The former Strictly Made In Chelsea star, 35, whose grandfather created the McVitie’s digestive biscuit, admitted ‘I am posh’ as he reflected on his privileged upbringing and being sent to a private boarding school by his wealthy parents.

Jamie told MailOnline: ‘I trialed for Radio 1 eight years ago, I honestly did, and the feedback was “Jamie, you’re just too posh.”

‘Sometimes from the outside and I do understand this, people think I just did Made In Chelsea and now I’m suddenly doing Radio 1, which is obviously not the case. I have been gunning for this job for eight years.

‘I truly think that if the only hurdle I personally have to jump over is the fact that people think I’m posh, it’s not the biggest hurdle in the world.’

Jamie co-hosts Going Home on Radio 1 from 15:30 – 18:00, Monday to Thursday, with Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton.
