Italian newspapers have reacted to the death of former Juventus and Chelsea star Gianluca Vialli on Friday aged 58 following a battle with cancer.

After starting his career in the Italian lower leagues with his local club Cremonese, Viali would first rise to prominence after joining Sampdoria, where he would embark on a successful strike partnership alongside fellow future Premier League manager Roberto Mancini.
Gianluca Vialli has passed away following a long battle with cancer aged 58
Viali’s efforts for the Blucerchiati would earn him a call-up to the national team, and also see him claim the first of two Serie A titles during his playing career, three Coppa Italia’s and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.
After moving to Juventus for a then-world record fee of £12.5million Vialli would go on to become an integral part of the Old Lady during the early 1990s, amassing a host of silverware before captaining the club to its second Champions League win before ending his playing career with Chelsea.
