Car crashes lands onto train tracks in Penshurst Sydney

  • The woman’s car landed on the tracks at Penshurst about 9am on Wednesday 
  • It is believed a crane will need to be necessary to remove the car
  • City Rail has warned commuters on the T4 line of ‘major train delays’

A driver has ploughed through a fence and ended up on train tracks in Sydney’s south, causing significant delays for commuters.

The female driver landed on the tracks at Penshurst about 9am on Wednesday, causing delays on the T4 line, City Rail tweeted.

‘MAJOR DELAYS due to a vehicle on the tracks at Penshurst. Trains are running but delayed significantly. Allow extra travel time,’ City Rail said.

‘Shuttle trains running between Sutherland & Cronulla/Waterfall. May need to change at Sutherland to complete journey’.

After 10am, City Rail announced the Bondi Junction to Hurstville service has been cancelled because of the vehicle on the tracks.  

Paramedics have treated the woman who’s been taken to St George hospital, a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

It is believed a crane will need to be necessary to remove the car.
