The horrifying moment a driver crashed into a traffic light was caught on camera by the car driving in front of it.
Richard Poirier, 54, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, has been charged with careless driving in last week’s crash.
The footage taken by the back seat of a car shows Poirier’s vehicle swerving and going over the lines multiple times on a highway in Carleton Place, Ontario.
Finally, the car veers to one side and into a ditch, then launches through the intersection before ultimately crashing into a traffic light.

The man who recorded and posted the video said he was keeping his eye on the car in the rear-view mirror as it was hitting the shoulder and straddling the center line. He added that he wondered if the man was impaired.
After the crash, the car in front stopped to call 911 and provided investigators with the footage.
Luckily, no one outside the car was hurt. The driver only suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The accident closed the road for a short time and caused a power outage. Lanark County paramedics and Ocean Wave Fire Company firefighters responded to the scene around 7pm.
Users are speculating the cause of the accident could be that the driver was under the influence or suffered a stroke or heart attack. Though for now, Poirier has only been charged with careless driving.
