Cara Delevingne and her girlfriend Leah Mason prove they are a perfect match for each other as they join the latest celebrity trend of wearing strikingly similar outfits while jetting out of Rome

Cara Delevingne and her girlfriend Leah Mason proved they are a perfect match for each other as they jetted out of Rome wearing almost identical outfits.

The supermodel and her musician lover, who performs under the name Minke, wore cream beanies and stuck to a monochrome palette as they flew out of the city.

They had earlier been in Venice to celebrate actress Anya Taylor-Joy’s two-day wedding bash to musician Malcolm McRae.

Cara, 31, met her girlfriend, also aged 31, at boarding school 20 years ago and started dating her early last year after they reconnected at a party. Cara said: ‘Being with my girlfriend, in this relationship, there are just so many things that came at once and have made me so happy and comfortable with who I am.’

The concept of celebrity couples dressing alike is not new.

Relationship psychologist Mairead Malloy said: ‘People often choose a partner who looks similar to them and has similar style. A shared interest in what we choose to wear is understandable, especially after spending a lot of time with someone.’

Victoria and David Beckham have joked about their ‘twinning’ style. The former Spice Girl admitted: ‘When we started out we were just having fun with it. It was naivety then.’

And she said their recent ‘double denim’ look – posted on social media – was an accident. She insisted: ‘I thought those days were over.

‘I got dressed first FYI!’

Jurassic Park actor Jeff Gold-blum, 70, and his wife Emilie Livingston, 40, were in matching vertical-striped outfits at a Prada fashion event in Los Angeles.

She said: ‘I think it’s fun to dress up with your partner sometimes. It’s harmless and it looks good.’ Superstar Rihanna chose to double up in beige with husband A$AP Rocky at the premiere of last year’s blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Dawnn Karen, a fashion psychologist, said dressing alike shows empathy and contentment in a relationship.

She said: ‘It shows you’re on the same frequency.

‘A lot of couples dress alike and it correlates to a high degree of happiness.

‘Some couples randomly do it and others do it on purpose. Ultimately, it shows how united they are.’
